¶ What is the Quick Reference (2014) page
The Quick Reference (2014) page has a similar layout to the book and adventure pages, however it contains a curated selection of frequently referenced rules from the Player’s Handbook (2014), Dungeon Master’s Guide (2014) and Xanathar’s Guide to Everything.

Legacy Content Notice
The Quick Reference (2014) page only includes rules for the 2014 edition of 5e.
There is no intent to create a similar page for 2024 rules as Wizards of the Coast have introduced the Rules Glossary.

¶ Layout
The Quick Reference (2014) page is laid out similar to a book or adventure page.
The left side of the page includes a list of contents, the right side of the page shows the currently selected section.
The Quick Reference page is organised into 5 chapters: Character Creation, Equipment, Playing the Game, Combat, & Adventuring.
You can use either the table of contents or the ˂ Previous / Next ˃ buttons to navigate through the sections.
The View Entire Document button will display the entire quick reference at once. As the Quick Reference includes only a single image this should not have the slow performance which can occur on book and adventure pages.
The button will toggle between a narrow and the normal reading view.
The button allows the Quick Reference to be downloaded as a Markdown document for use in note taking apps.
¶ Hotkeys
As described at the top of the page there are two special hotkeys on this page, again similar to book and adventure pages.
The G hotkey allows you to quickly navigate to a known page, while the F hotkey allows you to quickly find matching text within the document.
¶ Tags for Homebrewers
The primary reason for the Quick Reference (2014) page is that it can be tagged similar to other types of content, such that hovering over the tag pops out a window displaying information. It is not feasible for this to be implemented for books and adventures as they would need to be fully indexed, impacting performance.
For 2024 content the {@variantrule <name>|<source>} tag can be used instead to access the Rules Glossary.

Note that when using the Quick Reference Section from the Content List below the chapterIndex starts from 0 so you should reduce the value by 1.
